Being Accountable

So I had decided to give up on blogging. About nine months ago I lost all interest in having a blog. I have continued to read all the same blogs that I always have, but writing about myself was no longer an interest for me.

But since I stopped writing I've also noticed that I haven't been holding myself accountable for poor food choices. I'm hoping that by starting to blog again will get me back to healthy eating habits.

If you remember I have a seasonal job. Right now we're getting into the heart of our season, I will be working 15 to 20 hours a day 7 days a week. It's crazy intense but it's only for about the next nine weeks. My sister and I have already booked a trip to Vegas in September. I little something to look forward to! Knowing I have Vegas on the horizon I want to feel comfortable and confident hanging out by the pool. My goal is to lose 1.5 lbs a week.

Welcome October

With open arms I am so happy to welcome October.

There are lots of fun things that I have to look forward to this month:

  • Our 3rd Anniversary of Wedded Bliss Smile
  • A trip to Washington to visit both of our grandparents
  • Getting back into an exercise schedule
  • 1st full month without a crazy work schedule
  • Time to be domestic (cooking and cleaning)
  • And my little ol blog being featured on fitbogger

This weekend I was finally able to get caught up on my google reader. I have had 300-400 posts to read since about the middle of July. Also this weekend we had a 70’s themed murder mystery party. It was such  a blast! I got a long brunette wig with bangs and LOVED the look.


We also had oil fondue. It was kind of scary so I stayed sober to keep an eye on it. It was nice waking up this morning without a hangover.

With a new month upon us I’m going to start posting 5 goals that I have for the month again. Here’s what I have lined up for this month:

  1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Sounds simple but I am out of the habit of getting enough H20 everyday.
  2. Have a fruit of vegetable with/as every meal or snack.
  3. Can only wear elastic waist pants one day a week.
  4. Read 2 books. It’s been about 6 months since I’ve read an entire book… Yikes!
  5. And last but not least to take pictures everyday. I need more content for the blog.

Hello Old Friends

Geez… Where to start? I have been done with the hard/ long hours of the summer job for a couple of weeks now. And have been procrastinating on doing my first blog post back. Why, you may ask? I’ve had that same looming feeling that you get when you need to call an old friend, but know there is so much to say and it’s going to be a REALLY long conversation. So it basically ends up being easier to put off calling as opposed to calling and catching up. Maybe that’s just me Smile !?

I hate to say it but my summer was super boring. We basically work about 16-20 hours a day, 7 days a week, May till mid September. There is zero time during the summer for anything but work. We ate lots of takeout for dinner and besides the physical aspects of the job there is no exercise. Hopefully it will all be worth it this winter, and we made enough money in those 4 months that we don’t have to work the other 8 months of the year. I’ll do more explaining for what those long hours entailed in another post.

Anyways it feels good to be back. I have some training planned for a fall 5k, and have already gotten myself back into the pool. I am super out of shape, but you have to start somewhere. Hope that everyone had a fab summer and was able to enjoy all the parts of summer that you are supposed to.

Oh also I am thinking of switching to wordpress, primarily because I can’t comment on any blogger blogs. It is very annoying and frustrating, that you all can’t feel my commenting love Smile 

Would you exchange your normal job of 8-5 5 days a week, to work 20 hours 7 days a week but for only 4 months instead of 12 months a year?

A Full Day, By 7 AM

It’s only 7 in the morning and I’ve already crossed off most of the things on my to-do list.

2am- Wake Up

2:30-5:30am- Work

5:45-6:15am- Run (3 Miles)

6:20-6:40am- Clean Kitchen

6:45-7am- Plant Flowers in Pots for the Deck

And now I can cross blogging off the list.

Running first thing in the morning on trails or in parks guarantees that you are the spider web clearer for that day Smile  They were bad this morning!


I’m not done working for the day. I have to go back at 9:30, and probably work till 7 or 8 tonight. This is a pretty normal schedule for the new job. But on the plus side, it’s only 4 months a year!

We had one of my favorite dinners last night. Fish tacos in romaine lettuce boats.


We cooked Yellow Eye aka Red Snapper with taco seasoning.

  • Cooked Yellow Eye
  • Mexi Cheese
  • Olives
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • and Cilantro

So Good!

Three Course Meal

This morning I started National Running Day with a relaxing 4 mile jog. This was the furthest I have run in a month. I’m always shocked at how fast my fitness level depletes if I’m not using it.

Last night we had one of those dinners where you are so hungry that you can’t wait for all the components to come together. So we just ate as each part was finished. It was actually really satisfying and took us much longer to eat. There was even conversation… imagine that Smile 

We started off with a salad; romaine, carrots, mushrooms, hearts of palm, and fresh ground pepper.


2nd course was the vegetable; first corn on the cob of the year.


And we finished up with the protein; slice of pork tenderloin. I cut all the fat off and left the last few bites for Ben. Sorry the picture looks nasty on my dirty plate with a gray piece of meat laying there. Sad smile


My handsome husband even did the dishes.  It’s really bright in our house in the evening… sunglasses are required.


While Ben did the dishes I looked through my new Self Magazine. I came across this article that was a friendly reminder of how we should eat.


It was filled with friendly reminders of bad eating  habits that we create. Sometimes just being aware of a behavior is enough to make you change it.

#9 is the one that I always forget to do. I’m not sure if it’s from being a kid  and having to eat everything on my plate. Or because I do the shopping, I know how much food costs and don’t want to waste money throwing food away?

New Cardio

For the last 6 months I have been doing all of my cardio while pounding the pavement. This morning I didn’t feel like running outside (even though the weather is awesome). So I put on some shorts and walked downstairs to the comfort of my own home to jump on the elliptical for 20 minutes. It was possibly the hardest 20 minutes of cardio that I have done is a very long time. I mean I can run for 4 and a half hours, but 20 little ol minutes of the elliptical kicked my booty!

The nice part of exercising at home is not having to be self conscience of my incredibly white body!


Do you remember that I am on a “diet” to loose the pounds that I gained during marathon training? Well all that’s going really good. But when I go to the grocery store I still like to buy stuff that I will want to eat when I get back to the weight that I want to be at, especially if certain items that I love are on sale…. like meal bars. Over the last few weeks my collection has grown out of control!!!

Back to the weight loss… I am getting really close to my pre-marathon weight. I am currently 155lbs, but am making a personal goal to be at 145 by the end of the summer. So this summer my blog is going to go from a marathon training blog to a weight loss blog. I hope you’re all okay with that Smile
